< BEFORE  ---   AFTER>

The training that Humble Hounds provides is a simplified approach to dog behaviour.  Booking an appointment with Humble Hounds will see Emma visit you and your family which gives you the opportunity to discuss any problems or concerns that you are having with your dog but also allows Emma to assess your dog’s behaviour first hand.

So what does the visit involve?

The visit involves Emma coming to your home to talk to you about your dog’s behaviour.  The idea is to give you, as the owner, an understanding of why your dog is behaving the way he/she is.  No matter what the problem there is always a good reason why the dog is doing it.  That’s right even:

·        digging

·        chewing

·        scratching at doors

·        chasing shadows

·         aggression

·         lack of cooperation during obedience

·        fear biting

·         post traumatic stress behaviours

·        growling at people who carry umbrellas

·        attacking the vacuum cleaner

·        etc

As strange as these behaviours may seem to you there is always a reason why the dog feels the need to react to these situations in the way they do.  It’s this understanding that is the key to resolving the problem.

Once the problem areas have been identified we will proceed with a tutorial covering all aspects of canine behaviour so that you will then be set up to deal with these problems.

The support provided by Humble Hounds is then ongoing by phone or email for the rest of the dog’s life.  By the time you have had your first visit from Humble Hounds you will be left with enough information to help you tackle current problems and any others that you may face in the future so an additional visit isn’t necessary but phone and email support is always available.  There will, no doubt, be times where you will be seeking some guidance or advice so we encourage you to take advantage of this support.  Seeing dogs and their owners happy for their entire lives is all part of the service!

How long does the visit go for?

Visits usually average at 2-6hrs in length.  Emma will stay for as long as it takes for you to feel as though you understand your dog’s behaviour enough to tackle the problems you were originally facing.  Significant improvements in your dog’s behaviour can be seen during this visit alone, no matter how severe the problem may seem.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the visit?

There are a few things you can do to ensure you get the most out of your visit from Humble Hounds:

·      Set plenty of time aside.  The last thing you need is a deadline that causes you to have to cut your visit short.  Give this the time it needs now and it will save your hours in the future.

·      Don’t worry about Emma seeing your dog at his/her worst.  This is after all why you have called her to come and see you.  Emma has been jumped on, slobbered on, had her pants chewed at and even had the odd claw mark in the back of her leg for good measure.  She is prepared for these behaviours so please do not be embarrassed by them.

·      Be upfront about any previous episodes of aggression.  Nothing you can say about your dog’s temperament is going to scare Emma off of coming to visit you and your dog/s.  Telling Emma upfront about any previous aggressive behaviour is responsible, ensures her safety and helps her to help you with your dog that little bit more.

Who from my family should be there for the visit?

Anybody that lives with the dog should be there in order for your visit to be of the greatest benefit to you and your dog/s.  This may include people that visit your home regularly such as a nanny, carer or house sitter.  If not everybody can make it you will be able to pass on what you learn to this person but remember, Emma has been training in this field for many years and she is the best person to do the training wherever its possible.

How do I book?

Simply contact Emma by phone or email to make an appointment. (See Contact Us)

When can Emma visit me and my family?

Emma can visit during the day and sometimes in the evening or on weekends.  Try to have a couple of dates and times in mind when you call and Emma will do her best to fit in with a time that suits you best.

How much does this service cost?

There is a set price for the visit but the cost of travel varies depending on where you are.  Emma will always try to tie your visit in with another one in your area to help reduce travel costs.  When calling to make a booking Emma can provide you with an obligation free quotation.

Emma is regularly in the Avon Valley, Perth and Kojonup Western Australia but is happy to travel anywhere.
